Launching our 2022 Summer Concert Series is J London and the Band of Friends. This band promises concert-goers an”uplifting smooth vocal jazz sound where the mind meets the heart”! J London, a graduate of Marion Franklin High School and Columbus resident, combined with backing band The Band of Friends, formed in 2015 by the record label San_Ton Entertainment. Club and festival promoters like to refer to the band as a Soul Jazz Experience due to the mixture of original and cover vocal songs sung and played by the band. Think Al Jarreau meets Will Downing and you can get a nice mental picture of their sound.
We are excited to bring this great group (J London, Cynthia P. Carr and Freda Abbott Ayodele – vocals, T. Miller – guitar, Dwight Cartier – Bass, Rick Soriano – keyboards/percussion, John Carson – saxophone/flute, and Leon Robinson – drums) to our outdoor stage at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center at 7:00pm on Sunday, June 12 as our first free concert in our 2022 Summer Concert Series. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center so please come rain or shine!
These concerts are made possible in part due to a Tourism Attraction Grant from Destination Hilliard.
Don’t forget that the Hilliard DORA is in effect, so feel free to bring food and adult beverages from participating Hilliard bars and restaurants.
