“Nunsense” is a hilarious spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser, a talent show designed to raise money to bury their dearly departed sisters who have passed away due to an unfortunate culinary experience.  With book, music, and lyrics by Dan Goggin, the show has the distinction of being the second-longest running Off-Broadway show in history with 3,672 performances.

MEET THE CAST

Carolyn Hughes- Sister Mary Hubert

Sister Hubert is a perfect role for Carolyn since she much prefers being the trusty sidekick and NOT the one in charge! She has grown up and worked in Catholic schools for her whole life, so has a little experience with nuns with a sense of humor. Sr. Mary and Sr. Pat were her favorite teachers in middle school. They were best friends and always laughing, which made school so much fun. This is Carolyn’s third show with HAC, and you can also hear her singing around town with the Columbus Chorus of Sweet Adelines. She would like to thank Robin for casting her in this great role, her Nunsense castmates, directors, and choreographer for making rehearsals so much fun, and her family (especially her favorite sister) and her friends from St. Cecilia School for so much support and encouragement during these last few crazy months!

Jessie Strait – Sister Mary Robert Anne

Jessie is a graduate of Capital University and she has performed in productions at their Conservatory of Music and cabaret theater. But this isn’t Jessie’s first time on the HAC stage. She was in the 2015 production of Music Man when she was a junior in high school as a chorus member. She also performed as a chorus member in last summer’s production of Crazy for You, and she was most recently in the fall production of The Last Night of Ballyhoo as Lala. She is very excited to be a street wise nun and for the opportunity to finally use her stellar and uncanny Brooklyn accent that her coworkers can confirm is 100% accurate.

Lauren Grondin – Sister Mary Leo

Lauren Grondin is excited to be returning to the HAC stage in the role of Sister Mary Leo, a novice who wants desperately to become a famous nun ballerina (if only Reverend Mother would let her wear a tutu). This is Lauren’s seventh show with HAC, and she’s looking forward to sharing the “humor of the nun” with audiences. Lauren is a native of Hilliard and holds degrees from Denison University and Emory University School of Law. Recent performing credits include roles in Elf the Musical, Something Rotten!, and The Music Man. Her favorite nu nexperience is watching and singing along with Sister Act! She would like to thank her family for their support.

Alexa Rybinski – Sister Mary Amnesia

Alexa is so excited to return to Nunsense after playing Sister Mary Hubert in LTOB’s production in 2021! Other Hilliard Arts Council shows include 1776 (Martha), Les Mis (Cosette), and Cabaret (Sally Bowles). Other Favorite roles: Into the Woods (Baker’s Wife), Seussical (Gertrude), Spring Awakening (Wendla), Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Cinderella), Wild Party (Kate), Shrek (Fiona), and First Date (Casey). She has costumed several shows around Columbus and has played viola in the pit for CATCO, CCT, LTOB, SNS, and HAC. Turn up the Spotlight!

Caroline Harkness- Sister Mary Regina

Caroline Harkness loves Sister Mary Regina, otherwise known as Mother Superior or as she likes to say Superior Sister! This Caroline’s fourth production with Hilliard Arts Council. Favorite roles are Ernestina Money in Hello Dolly and Overcome Shakespeare Groupie in Something Rotten!
