1776 Auditions

We are pleased to announce open auditions for our upcoming production of 1776, Sherman Edwards’ Tony Award winning musical, which reexamines a pivotal moment in American history: the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday March 8 from 7pm until 9pm and on Saturday March 12 from 4pm until 6pm at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center, 5425 Center Street Hilliard, Ohio 43026. Auditions must be signed up for in advance at our audition registration site.

There are 28 speaking/singing roles available (2 female, 26 male) including 3 lead roles: John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. The show will be cast without  consideration of  the actor’s ethnicity, skin color, or body shape and in some cases, sex or gender.

For the safety of our auditionees as well as our entire production team, full vaccinations are required (boosters strongly recommended) for participation and proof will need to be provided at your audition.  Also please note that masks must be worn when entering the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center.

Please bring a completed audition form as well as a photo and theater resume/CV (if you have one).  A downloadable audition form as well as other important audition information can be found on our audition page.

Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the show as well as sing 16-32  bars of a song of your choice.  An accompanist will be provided.  Acappella or use of karaoke tracks are acceptable (please bring a device to play the track).  For those that can not attend the scheduled audition dates, video auditions will be accepted via email no later than 3pm on Saturday March 12.

Call backs will be held on Sunday, March 13 from 7pm to 9pm at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center. The first rehearsal will be Tuesday March 15 from 7-9pm.

Show dates are April  22-24, 29- May 1, 2022

Hi Corey. There was an error on the sign-up page. It has been corrected. Thanks for helping us spot it! See you at auditions.

    1. This will be discussed in more detail at auditions, but _generally_ there will be some sort of rehearsal going on Mon-Thur evenings, Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. Rehearsals are usually 2 hours in length. Schedule will vary depending on part cast. Hope to see you at auditions!
