Audition Announcement!

By on in Archive |

Talley’s Folly Seeking co-habiting heterosexual couple for Hilliard Arts Council production of Lanford Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, Talley’s Folly.  This way the two actors would not need to socially distance from each other.  Synopsis. The play takes place in 1944 in Lebanon, Missouri where Matt Friedman, an accountant from St. Louis, comes to plead his love to Sally Talley.  Sally’s family doesn’t approve of Matt and she refuses his proposal of marriage.  Throughout the course of the play Matt and Sally gradually find a way to come together. Character descriptions: Matt: 42 and dark, and rather large.  Warm and unhurried, he has a definite talent for mimicry.  In his voice there is still a trace of a German-Jewish accent of which he is probably unaware.   Sally: 31. Light, thin, quite attractive but in no way glamorous or glamorized.  Straightforward, rather tired.  When she gets angry, she has a pronounced Ozark accent, but when she concentrates on what she is saying, the accent becomes much less pronounced.   Auditions Sat. Oct. 16 and Sunday Oct. 17.  Contact Robin Brenneman at kenrob@columbus.rr.com to arrange an audition time.  Auditions will be held at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center....

COVID -19 Response

By on in Archive |

As a community partner, Hilliard Arts Council appreciates and wants to help with efforts suggested by the the Governor and the State Public Health Authorities to limit social interactions and slow the community spread of COVID-19. As such, effective today, Sunday March 15 and continuing through Friday, April 3, Hilliard Arts Council is pausing all sponsored activities with rare exception (as determined by our Board of Trustees). While we have no specific events planned for this time period, there are several that are in rehearsal preparation including The Laramie Project as well as Hilliard Community and Youth Choir concerts. Our directors will be working out alternative plans to accommodate this temporary halt to face to face activities. This will undoubtedly result in some rescheduling of planned performance dates. Please stay tuned for more news. This decision was not made lightly or easily, but the safety and well being of our program participants, volunteers and staff as well as community at large are obviously of utmost concern and importance to us. We hope all of our participants and supporters are doing what they can to take care of themselves during these trying times. We look forward to be working to product great art for our community in the very...
